HSB files SmartLeads trademark for connected-appliance insurance leads
HSB says SmartLeads, filed on September 17, will use connected appliance data to support risk assessment and underwriting while targeting small and mid-sized insurance businesses.
HSB has filed a trademark application for SmartLeads, a service that uses connected appliance data to generate insurance sales leads and inform residential risk assessment, according to Coverager.
Coverager reports that the offering is aimed at small and mid-sized businesses operating connected fleets, with HSB also citing work with Samsung and mentioning that participating homeowners may receive rewards such as smart home credits.
The companies previously built toward the effort, with Coverager noting that Samsung-HSB work predates SmartLeads and that a Samsung–HSB program called Smart Home Savings launched following a Florida pilot with home insurers in 2025.
Coverager adds that Smart Home Savings allows participating insurers to verify connected Samsung appliances and offer eligible homeowners policy credits, while SmartLeads extends the use of the data to an insurer-facing marketing and underwriting tool.
