Vietnam charges three men over alleged border crossing and terrorism

Vietnam says two men were caught crossing from Cambodia with forged identity documents, after a pro-democracy group alleged they were abducted.

A Vietnamese pro-democracy organization alleged that two of its members, who hold Norwegian and Australian citizenship, were abducted in Cambodia and taken to the border with Vietnam, where Vietnamese authorities later accused them of illegally entering the country, according to SCMP Economy.

Vietnam has charged the two men, along with a third alleged member of the group, with terrorism and document forgery, saying they were caught crossing the border from Cambodia with forged identity documents.

The organization, Viet Tan, said Nguyen Duc Thuan and Ho Pham Hiep Huy were reported missing in Cambodia hours before authorities said they were detained.

A representative told This Week in Asia that Thuan and Huy entered Cambodia legally on September 15 and were due to leave on September 19.
