50 Hudson Street unveils new glass brick facade in Tribeca

Commercial Observer reports that the newly completed redevelopment project at 50 Hudson Street in Tribeca features a glass brick facade, designed by the late Thierry Despont.
The property, a six-story mixed-use building, blends commercial condos for boutique offices with a luxury residential penthouse, and the outlet says the facade is designed to let light pass through easily.
Commercial Observer also traces the building’s past, saying it was originally three stories tall and built in 1925 as a paper-making factory and office for the John F. Sarle Company.
The outlet adds that the building was later used by a forensic engineering firm for about 50 years and, in 1991, was designated as part of the Tribeca West Historic District.
