ADP shows US private payrolls up 90K in September
The ADP gain beat the 70K market forecast and came after a slower August, while the US dollar index was down 0.1% on the day at 101.2.
ADP reported that US private sector employment rose by 90K in September, topping the 70K expected by markets. The reading followed an August increase of 36K, revised from 38K, according to FXStreet.
FXStreet said the report attributed job growth to the education, health care, and leisure and hospitality sectors, while financial activities and professional and business services showed weakness.
Commenting on the survey, Dr. Nela Richardson, ADP chief economist, described the data as a rebound in job creation after a three-month slowdown and said pay growth remained solid.
FXStreet added that the report did not trigger a noticeable reaction in the US dollar, with the USD Index down 0.15% at 101.23 at the time of press.
