Africa’s cement expansion could spur future energy demand
Africa currently accounts for less than 5% of global energy supplies despite having about a fifth of the world’s population, OilPrice reports.
The outlet says Africa’s manufacturing output is also low, at around 2% of the global total, with many countries exporting raw minerals and agricultural products while importing costly finished goods.
OilPrice links the continent’s large-scale cement expansion to the possibility of a new energy buildout, positioning it as a potential driver of an energy boom.
The article also frames this shift within broader efforts to expand energy infrastructure and alternative power sources across Africa.
