Allianz considers second Sconset Re life reinsurance sidecar
Bermuda pre-registration signals a possible follow-on to Allianz’s first Sconset Re structure, which began paying dividends to the insurer in Q2 2026.
Global insurer Allianz may be planning an additional iteration of its Sconset Re life reinsurance sidecar, with new entities tied to the Sconset Re naming convention pre-registered in Bermuda, according to Artemis.
Artemis reports that Allianz previously launched a Bermuda-domiciled life and annuity-focused reinsurance sidecar called Sconset Re Ltd in late 2024. The structure was backed by institutional investors, and Allianz partnered with its investment manager PIMCO and other institutions for asset management support.
Artemis adds that in the second quarter of 2026, Allianz said it received the first dividend payment from its investment participation in the Sconset Re sidecar, although no dividend figure was disclosed. Artemis also notes that Allianz likely benefits through fee income, a share of income, or ceding commission from reinsurance business transferred into the sidecar.
