EDF boss calls new North Sea oil and gas projects a net zero fit
EDF Energy chief Simone Rossi said the UK should approve the Rosebank and Jackdaw fields while speeding up support for heat pumps and electric vehicles.
Guardian Business reports that Simone Rossi, head of EDF Energy, argues that new North Sea oil and gas development does not conflict with the UK net zero agenda.
In an interview with the BBC, Rossi said the government should give the green light to the Rosebank and Jackdaw fields, as ministers prepare to decide on the projects in coming weeks.
He also urged accelerating support for heat pumps and electric vehicles, saying it will take decades to wean off dependence while the UK uses resources it already has instead of importing them from afar.
