Germany CPI lifts to 3.3% in September, but EUR/USD barely moves

The monthly German CPI rose 0.6% versus 0.2% in August, exceeding the 0.5% market expectation.

Germany’s inflation rate accelerated in September, with preliminary annual CPI rising to 3.3% from 2.9% in August, Destatis reported. The monthly CPI increased 0.6% after a 0.2% rise in August, topping the market expectation of 0.5%.

Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, the ECB’s preferred gauge, also rose 0.6% month-on-month and 3.3% year-on-year, with both figures reported as above analysts’ estimates.

Despite the upside inflation prints, FXStreet said the EUR/USD pair showed no immediate reaction and was last near 1.1350, up about 0.1% on the day.
