Germany orders SEFE to increase gas storage by 8 TWh
SEFE was told to reach the additional storage target by December 15, after the unit was nationalized and renamed in 2022.
Securing Energy for Europe, or SEFE, the German state-owned gas importer, has been ordered to raise the amount of natural gas in storage by the equivalent of 8 terawatt-hours (TWh) by December 15, the company said.
OilPrice reports that SEFE is the former unit of Russia’s Gazprom, which Germany nationalized in 2022 and renamed SEFE after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and EU sanctions on Russia.
The order is aimed at securing energy supplies for Europe as Germany boosts gas reserves ahead of winter.
