Gould Property to invest $25M in East End D.C. office overhaul

The renovation of the 440,000-square-foot mixed-use property began this month and is expected to wrap up next fall.

Gould Property Co. is investing $25 million in a large-scale upgrade of 401 Ninth St. NW in Washington, D.C., a 440,000-square-foot mixed-use property in the East End, Bisnow reported.

According to Bisnow, the work includes renovating the four-story lobby, adding a fitness and wellness center offshoot, revamping a two-level, 200-person conference center, and creating an indoor-outdoor penthouse amenity called The Solarium.

Bisnow said construction started this month and is expected to be completed next fall.

Bisnow also noted that Gould is among several office owners pursuing similar projects as tenants look for top-tier space amid a shortage of supply.
