Hong Kong Central Kowloon Route section to open Dec. 6

The Transport and Logistics secretary said the December 6 opening completes the Kowloon Bay section and supports full commissioning of Route 6, including the Tseung Kwan O–Lam Tin Tunnel.

Hong Kong’s transport chief said a key section of the Central Kowloon Route will open to traffic on December 6, extending a new connection between Yau Ma Tei and Tseung Kwan O.

According to SCMP Economy, Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan said at a Legislative Council meeting that the Kowloon Bay section will go into service on that date.

Chan also said the project marks full commissioning of Route 6 once combined with the Yau Ma Tei section that opened at the end of last year, and the broader route that includes the Tseung Kwan O to Lam Tin Tunnel.

SCMP Economy noted the Central Kowloon Route is part of Route 6, with construction beginning in 2017.
