Indian benchmarks slip as US yields and oil prices weigh on sentiment
Nifty 50 fell 0.4% to close at 22,683, while Sensex ended down 0.4% at 72,480, both extending losses for a second session.
India's Sensex and Nifty 50 fell on Tuesday, tracking weakness in US markets that has weighed on global risk appetite. LiveMint Markets said the pressure was linked to elevated crude oil prices and rising global bond yields.
The Nifty 50 declined 0.42% to close at 22,683, staying below the 23,000 level, while the Sensex fell 0.40% to end at 72,480. LiveMint Markets also noted broader weakness, with Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 each down more than 0.50%.
The outlet said Indian stocks are closely following developments in the United States, citing sensitivity to global liquidity, interest rates, the rupee and technology spending. LiveMint Markets added that US stocks ended marginally lower as Treasury yields continued to rise ahead of key inflation and labour-market data.
