Ken Griffin buys Wynwood land parcel for about $1.1 billion

The roughly 30-acre site will be developed into a new Carnegie Mellon University campus, after Griffin completes a $3 billion donation tied to the project.

ConnectCRE reports that Moishe Mana, founder and chairman of Mana Common, closed the sale of approximately 30 acres of his Wynwood assemblage to Citadel founder and CEO Ken Griffin for about $1.1 billion.

Mana said the transaction is the most expensive land assemblage sale ever in South Florida and reflects 16 years of property purchases in Wynwood.

The site is planned for a new campus for Carnegie Mellon University, and ConnectCRE reports Griffin is donating $3 billion to help fund the effort.

ConnectCRE also said the planned 35-acre campus will ultimately house more than 3,500 students across undergraduate, master’s degree, and PhD programs, along with 300 faculty members.
