Nifty faces volatile October after September sell-off, analysts watch crude and yields
September weakness was tied to rising crude oil prices, higher US bond yields, FII outflows and rupee depreciation.
Nifty 50 is set to begin October at a key point after a sharp sell-off in September, with investors weighing whether the correction could set up a rebound, LiveMint Markets said in its market outlook.
The benchmark index fell more than 5% in September, with the decline linked to rising crude oil prices and higher US bond yields, alongside escalating US Iran geopolitical tensions, foreign institutional investor outflows and rupee depreciation.
Looking ahead, analysts said near-term direction may hinge on foreign fund flows, US bond yields, crude oil prices, global risk sentiment and upcoming corporate earnings.
Historical seasonality shows the Nifty has ended October in negative territory in only three of the past 10 years, and the index gained 4.5% in October 2025 after declining 6.2% in October 2024.
