Swiss Re’s CatNet hazard data integrated into EigenRisk’s EigenPrism
The CatNet data covers major perils including flood, earthquake, tsunami, and wind and storm surge, and Swiss Re has expanded it to add wildfire and hail hazard layers.
Independent insurance technology firm EigenRisk, Inc. partnered with reinsurer Swiss Re to integrate Swiss Re’s CatNet natural catastrophe hazard data into EigenRisk’s flagship exposure management platform, EigenPrism.
The integration is designed to add Swiss Re’s analytics to EigenPrism’s open architecture ecosystem, joining a network of more than 40 third-party data and model providers.
CatNet is intended to give insurers fast, consistent overviews and exposure assessments for natural catastrophes worldwide, with coverage that includes flood, earthquake, tsunami, and wind and storm surge.
Swiss Re also expanded CatNet over time to address climate-driven secondary perils, including adding a wildfire capability for wildfire-prone areas and an updated hail hazard layer to reflect the rising cost of severe convective storms, according to Reinsurance News.
