Trump releases voluntary AI accord with internal audits, board oversight

President Donald Trump released a one-page artificial intelligence accord on Tuesday, signed by leaders of major AI companies, urging firms to voluntarily police their own systems amid growing concerns about AI risks, Decrypt reports.
The document says the agreement lays out four voluntary measures, including maintaining robust internal controls to monitor models, with a focus on cybersecurity, biosecurity and chemical threats, and ensuring systems do not hack or access technical systems in unintended ways.
It also calls for internal verification that the controls work, an external auditor to independently assess them, and an independent board committee to oversee the arrangement. The accord includes language suggesting the steps could eventually be codified into law.
According to Decrypt, the pact carries no penalties and drew criticism for its thin detail.
