Hercules Metals extends Idaho copper discovery with new drill hole
The latest hole returned 286.5 metres at 0.43% copper, including 65.5 metres at 0.61% copper, and the company is preparing for its first resource estimate.
Hercules Metals has extended its Southern Flats copper discovery in Idaho, enlarging a target the company says may connect with the Leviathan system to the north, Mining.com reported. The Hercules project is about 200 km northwest of Boise, Idaho’s capital.
In its latest drilling update, the company said hole HER-26-01 cut 286.5 metres grading 0.43% copper from 862.6 metres downhole. That included 65.5 metres at 0.61% copper from the same starting depth, with the new hole stepped 200 metres west of the prior Southern Flats discovery hole.
Hercules said it is moving toward its first resource estimate, with new management directing additional rigs toward Leviathan’s shallower, higher-grade copper. The company also said a potential connection between the Southern Flats and Leviathan zones would expand the main target, though continuity remains unproven.
The latest work is focused on establishing the extent and grade of the mineralization before Hercules can assess development potential, Mining.com said. Two rigs are currently drilling south from Leviathan into the roughly 1 km gap between the zones, with assays pending.
