UK PM says there are strong indications Iran was involved in airbase scare
The incident at RAF Fairford prompted a major security response over the weekend, but police said on Tuesday that no explosives were found at the scene.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said there are “strong indications” that Iran was involved in suspicious activity at RAF Fairford, near a US airbase used in the war against Iran, which triggered a major security incident over the weekend, according to SCMP Economy.
Burnham told the BBC that the situation remains an ongoing, complex and serious police investigation.
SCMP Economy reports that Iran’s embassy in London earlier “categorically rejects and strongly condemns” speculation it was involved, and police said on Tuesday that no explosives were found at the scene.
