US proposes global framework to curb excess steel capacity at G20
The proposal was made by USTR Jamieson Greer after a meeting of the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity in Milwaukee.
The US Trade Representative proposed a new global framework aimed at tackling excess steel production capacity alongside the Group of 20 Trade Ministers’ meeting, days after Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the United States, according to SCMP Economy.
USTR Jamieson Greer made the proposal on Wednesday after meeting with the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the outlet reported.
Greer said the United States has taken robust measures and argued it probably makes sense for other countries to do similarly, SCMP Economy added.
