AIG appoints new chief risk officer and chief actuary

The new leadership takes effect October 12, with Turab Hussain replacing Christopher Schaper as chief risk officer, and Graham Fulcher taking over as chief actuary.

AIG is reshuffling its top risk and actuarial leadership, promoting global chief actuary Turab Hussain to chief risk officer and naming Graham Fulcher to take over the actuarial role on October 12, according to Insurance Business.

Hussain will replace Christopher Schaper as chief risk officer on that date after Schaper’s retirement, and Hussain will continue to oversee pricing and reserving. AIG said Hussain will report to CEO Eric Andersen, remain based in New York, and join the executive leadership team.

AIG said it hired Hussain in 2021 and that he previously held senior risk roles at PartnerRe and The Hartford, with earlier positions at Arch Insurance, American Re, and Reliance Insurance. The outlet also noted that Schaper joined AIG in 2019 to run AIG Re and later served as global chief underwriting officer from November 2023 to January 2025, before becoming chief risk officer.

Insurance Business also said other insurers, including Neptune Insurance Holdings, Tokio Marine HCC, Parametrix and FORTIFIED, have made senior appointments as part of broader management moves.
