Dollar Index targets 103 as silver steadies near 60 ahead of NFP

September NFP expectations call for payrolls to slow to around 90K from 162K and wages to rise 0.3% month over month, levels that could shift both the dollar and silver setups in the same session.

The Dollar Index is pushing toward the 102.77 to 103.00 resistance zone as silver stabilizes near 60 after falling from 71.16, with both markets positioned on the same macro theme from opposite directions, according to Action Forex.

The outlet said the September jobs report could act as a single catalyst that confirms or breaks technical setups for both assets in the same session, with particular focus on wages and the broader composition of the report rather than the headline payroll figure alone.

Ahead of the release, September payrolls are expected to slow sharply from 162K to around 90K, unemployment is seen unchanged at 4.1%, and average hourly earnings are forecast to rise 0.3% month over month and 3.2% year over year, with the annual pace edging up from 3.1%.

Action Forex added that the Fed is entering NFP with mixed inflation signals, citing softer August PCE data that reduced expectations for another October hike, alongside remarks from New York Fed President John Williams that suggested there is “no need for urgency.”
