Euro slides below 1.1250 as French fiscal concerns resurface
EUR/USD fell to about 1.1235 in Asian trading, as French 10-year yields retreated after hitting their highest level since 2002 and attention turned to US September jobs data.
FXStreet said EUR/USD fell to around 1.1235 during Friday’s Asian trading hours, with the euro extending its decline on renewed concerns over France’s fiscal outlook.
The outlet attributed the pressure to the French government’s unveiling of its 2027 budget and noted that French 10-year government bond yields pulled back after reaching the highest level since 2002 in the prior session.
FXStreet also pointed to a renewed rise in oil prices amid a prolonged US-Iran war, which it said has helped lift yields through higher inflation expectations.
Looking ahead, the outlet said US September jobs data is expected to take center stage later on Friday, while comments from Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan indicated the Fed may need to raise short-term borrowing costs by at least 50 basis points to modestly support policy.
