HDFC Bank appoints Anup Bagchi as MD and CEO after RBI approval

Bagchi will take over on October 27, 2026, succeeding Sashidhar Jagdishan, whose current tenure ends October 26.

HDFC Bank has appointed Anup Bagchi as its managing director and chief executive officer, after receiving Reserve Bank of India approval, according to LiveMint Markets.

Bagchi, who currently serves as MD and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, is set to begin his role at HDFC Bank on October 27, 2026.

He will succeed Sashidhar Jagdishan, whose tenure ends on October 26, after he decided last month not to seek another term.

In an exchange filing cited by LiveMint Markets, HDFC Bank said the RBI approved Bagchi's appointment and remuneration under Section 35B of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, for a three-year period starting October 27, 2026.
