XAU/USD was last at $4,138 after earlier hitting $4,227, with prices down nearly 1% for the session.
Gold prices fell on Friday, struggling to break the $4,200 level as US Treasury yields edged higher following a weak US employment report, according to FXStreet.
The outlet reported XAU/USD trading around $4,138 after peaking near $4,227 earlier in the session, with gold down nearly 1% on the day.
FXStreet said September Nonfarm Payrolls came in at 29K, below the 90K estimate, and the unemployment rate rose from 4.1% to 4.2%.
It also noted that money markets now price a 77% chance of a hold at the October 28 meeting and an 88% chance of a hold for December.
