King Charles will address colonial rule and slavery on Caribbean visit
The tour includes solo stops in the Bahamas and Guyana, followed by a Commonwealth meeting in Antigua and Barbuda with Queen Camilla.
King Charles will acknowledge the “darkest days” of colonial rule and slavery during a Caribbean tour that begins this month, Buckingham Palace said, citing remarks planned around former British colonies.
The visit is set to start with trips to the Bahamas and Guyana, followed by Antigua and Barbuda where Charles, with Queen Camilla, will deliver a speech at a meeting of Commonwealth heads of government.
The palace said Charles, 77, is still receiving treatment for cancer and that the itinerary will focus on British Commonwealth countries that are now independent.
