Hong Kong embassy raises concern over Hongkongers held in Philippines
The Chinese embassy in Manila has expressed concern over two Hongkongers who have remained in custody in the Philippines for months even after being discharged from prison, according to the Philippines Immigration Department, as reported by SCMP Economy.
The Immigration Department said it was handling the cases after an appeal from a former lawmaker and Tang Lung-wai, a Hong Kong man who returned to the city on Tuesday and met the two residents, surnamed Cheung and Ng, in prison.
Tang Lung-wai also said he had been held for weeks at the same immigration facility in the Philippines while he waited to be deported.
