India’s H1 fiscal 2027 capex proposals rise, but September quarter falls

New headline project announcements reached ₹30 trillion in April to September FY27, but proposals in the September quarter contracted nearly 6% year over year.

India’s private investment outlook showed mixed momentum in the first half of fiscal year 2027, with headline project announcements up over April to September but weakening sharply in the September quarter, according to LiveMint Markets citing Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) data.

The report said new project announcements rose 33% year over year during the April to September (H1) period of FY27 to ₹30 trillion, after a 46% surge in the corresponding period last fiscal year.

On a broader view, new announcements increased 8.4% over H2 FY26, but the quarterly pattern was uneven.

In particular, project proposals in the September quarter contracted nearly 6% year over year after a 69% surge in the June quarter, and proposals dropped almost 50% in the September quarter.
