Japan Tokyo CPI rises above expectations
Tokyo CPI for September came in higher than expected, with the year-over-year headline rate at 2.7%, compared with an expected 2.5% and a prior reading of 1.9%, according to Forexlive.
The core CPI rate also matched the headline at 2.7% year over year, versus an expected 2.4% and prior 1.8%.
Forexlive also cited Tokyo CPI excluding food and energy at 3.0% year over year, above expectations of 2.5% and up from 2.0% previously.
The update included Tokyo jobs and applications ratio for August at 1.
