Renee Good’s family sues Trump administration over ICE shooting
The lawsuits accuse the ICE agent who shot Good and senior Trump officials of unconstitutional negligence and excessive force during Minneapolis deportation sweeps.
The family of Renee Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis in January, filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, according to SCMP Economy.
The complaint says Good was killed on January 7 in her car during deportation sweeps after she and her wife joined a daily protest against masked and armed federal agents deployed to Minnesota to arrest migrants for deportation.
The lawsuits accuse the ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, and senior Trump administration officials of unconstitutional negligence and excessive force that violated Good’s civil rights and those of others in Minneapolis, and they seek a jury trial and damages.
The case is described as among the first major civil actions taken against President Donald Trump tied to deportation sweeps in Minneapolis last winter, known as Operation Metro Surge.
