JERA warns Qatar LNG disruptions could push winter prices higher
JERA says it does not expect Qatar LNG to return to the market soon because of ongoing shipping hurdles at the Strait of Hormuz.
JERA, the biggest Japanese LNG importer and a major power producer, warned that LNG prices are likely to rise further as shipping disruptions affecting Qatari supply at the Strait of Hormuz are not expected to clear in time for winter, OilPrice reports.
In an interview on Bloomberg TV, JERA chairman and global chief executive officer Yukio Kani said the company does not expect Qatar LNG to come back to the market soon, citing the continuing hurdles around the waterway.
The report also notes that state owned QatarEnergy has extended the force majeure related to the supply disruption, though it did not specify how long the extension will last.
