Nifty 500 stocks retreat as many names fall 70% from highs
The Nifty index is down 18% from its 52-week high of 26,373.2, and 426 stocks in the Nifty 500 have fallen more than 10% from their peaks.
LiveMint Markets said Nifty 500 stocks have declined as much as 70% from their 52-week highs, with the broader market in a bear phase for more than two years.
The outlet cited that the Nifty index is down 18% from its 52-week high of 26,373.2, while the Nifty 500 index is down 9.5% from its 52-week high of 24,144.2.
Capitalmarket data highlighted that specific companies including Vedanta, HEG Advanced Materials, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Reliance Power, and KPIT Technologies are down between 62% and 68% from their 52-week highs.
LiveMint Markets attributed the prolonged market pressure to multiple headwinds, including weak earnings and premium valuations, US tariff-related uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, higher oil prices, weak monsoon predictions, and a sharp jump in US and Japan bond yields.
