Panama to share more audit material in CK Hutchison canal probe
The additional material will be sent to prosecutors next week and covers executives linked to Panama Ports Company, the operator of the Balboa and Cristobal terminals.
Panama’s comptroller general said his office will provide prosecutors with additional audit material next week as part of a criminal investigation tied to the annulled Panama Canal ports concession involving CK Hutchison, according to SCMP Economy.
Speaking at the Atlantic Council in Washington, Anel Flores said prosecutors requested documents relating to Panama Ports Company, the operator of the Balboa and Cristobal terminals at either end of the canal until February.
Flores added that the audit material also covers former board members of the Panama Maritime Authority, the regulator that oversaw the concession, and is not limited to executives from Panama Ports Company, SCMP Economy reported.
The update follows prosecutors’ document requests covering individuals associated with PPC and the maritime regulator in the scope of the canal-related case.
