Putin says Russia will use all weapons if Kaliningrad is attacked

He said NATO should not try to cut off Kaliningrad from the rest of Russia, warning Moscow will respond with nuclear weapons to defend the region.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow is not planning to attack European countries, but will respond to aggression with “all weapons” in its arsenal.

Speaking at a foreign policy forum, Putin accused the West and Europe of escalating tensions by discussing preparations for war, conducting military drills in the Baltic Sea, and seizing Russian vessels, according to SCMP Economy.

Putin’s remarks followed earlier warnings to NATO that Russia would not hesitate to use nuclear weapons to defend Kaliningrad if alliance members tried to cut off the Baltic exclave from the rest of Russia.

SCMP Economy also reported that several Russian embassies in Europe issued statements this week saying Moscow has information that NATO is preparing an air and naval blockade of Kaliningrad and the surrounding region.
