Tajikistan begins receiving Iranian oil amid U.S. sanctions risk
Deliveries began in late August after talks between Tajikistan and Iran on expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector, Tajikistan’s energy ministry said.
Tajikistan said it has started receiving oil and petroleum products from Iran, a potential new supply channel for a country whose fuel supplies have long been dominated by Russia, according to OilPrice.
The ministry also said the deliveries began in late August, after talks between the two countries on expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector, OilPrice reported, citing information provided to Asia-Plus.
The flow of Iranian energy into Tajikistan comes despite the risk of U.S. sanctions, OilPrice noted.
