U.S. deploys Patriot missile batteries to protect Saudi and Qatari energy
The deployment was sent last month as a contingency to safeguard energy infrastructure from possible Iranian strikes if regional tensions escalate again.
The United States last month sent two additional Patriot missile batteries to help protect energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and Qatar from Iranian strikes, according to U.S. officials and a Persian Gulf regional source cited by Axios.
One Patriot battery was sent to Saudi Arabia to protect a key oil-producing facility, while the other was sent to Qatar to help protect a gas facility.
The move is framed as a contingency if the conflict escalates again in the region, the outlet said.
