USD/JPY reverses NFP move as yen weakens and dollar stays soft
The US jobs report showed September nonfarm payrolls rose 29,000, far below expectations of 90,000, and the unemployment rate climbed to 4.2%.
USD/JPY traded around 157.65 on Friday, down 0.28% on the day, after briefly falling to 156.95 right after the US employment report.
FXStreet said the pair erased the post-NFP drop, driven mainly by renewed weakness in the Japanese yen while the US Dollar Index stayed near its daily lows.
The report showed US nonfarm payrolls increased by 29,000 in September versus expectations for 90,000, with prior months revised lower.
The unemployment rate rose to 4.2% and the labor force participation rate increased to 61.8% from 61.6%, according to the BLS data cited by FXStreet.
