USD/JPY slips as traders look ahead to US Nonfarm Payrolls
The pair was down 0.3% near 157.60, while the US Dollar Index eased to about 101.9.
The Japanese yen strengthened against the US dollar ahead of the US Nonfarm Payrolls report for September, scheduled for 12:30 GMT, according to FXStreet. In European trade, USD/JPY fell 0.3% to around 157.60 as weakness in the US dollar weighed on the pair.
FXStreet also noted the US Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback versus six major currencies, was 0.15% lower near 101.88. The DXY was correcting from its Thursday peak around 102.20.
On the yen side, Tokyo’s Consumer Price Index for September remained stronger than expected. FXStreet said Tokyo CPI excluding fresh food rose to 2.7% year-on-year, up from 1.8% in August, supporting the currency.
