The Pentagon contract calls for designing, building, and testing a homing beacon to help beam power from orbit to ground receiving arrays.

OilPrice reports that the U.S. Department of Defense has signed a contract with solar energy company Overview Energy focused on space-based solar power.

According to the report, the work includes designing, building, and testing a homing beacon that will enable the system to accurately beam power from orbit to receiving solar arrays on Earth.
