Dollar firms against most major currencies as ISM services nears
EURUSD, USDJPY and GBPUSD are in focus, with the final S&P Global services PMI at 9:45 a.m. ET and ISM services at 10 a.m. ET.
The U.S. dollar was mostly higher at the start of the North American trading week, gaining against six of the seven major currencies, according to Forexlive. The Australian dollar was the exception, trading modestly higher versus the greenback.
U.S. stock futures were pointing to a lower open, while Treasury yields were nearly unchanged. Traders’ next catalyst was the U.S. services sector, with the final S&P Global services PMI due at 9:45 a.m. ET and the more closely watched ISM services report at 10 a.m. ET.
Middle East developments continued to influence the oil outlook, with improving supply offering some relief but threats to energy infrastructure still seen as a risk. Among currency moves, NZD was the weakest versus the dollar, EUR was next, and AUD was holding up best, though its gain remained small.
In major pairs, USDJPY was near its session high and NZDUSD near its session low, reflecting dollar strength into the North American session. Forexlive said those levels serve as reference points, with any break needing follow-through to sustain the move.
