Dollar index steadies near 102.20 after pullback from 18-month highs
Technical indicators show the DXY remains above key moving averages, while the RSI at 76.3 flags overbought conditions.
FXStreet reports the US Dollar Index, a gauge of the US dollar versus six major currencies, rose after losses the prior session and traded around 102.2 after pulling back from nearly 18-month highs during European hours on Monday.
The outlet said the dollar index maintains a bullish near-term tone because price is holding above both the nine-period and 50-period exponential moving averages, with the shorter EMA above the longer one reinforcing an advancing trend.
FXStreet added that the 14-day Relative Strength Index is at 76.3, signaling overbought conditions, and that the FXS Fed Sentiment Index near 137.6 points to a still-supportive policy backdrop.
The technical view also cited an ascending wedge pattern, suggesting a temporary bullish continuation, but it noted a possible reversal or correction at the pattern’s apex or if lower support breaks.
