EU methane rule set to take effect in January amid supply risks
The rule is scheduled for January, and large exporters would face a squeeze on oil and gas unless the EU changes course.
OilPrice reports that the European Union’s so-called methane rule is scheduled to enter into effect in January.
The outlet says the rule is broadly unpopular with large energy exporters, because exporters have more buyer options than the EU has supplier options.
OilPrice also notes that if the EU does not change the approach, exporters could face an additional squeeze in oil and gas supply.
The report says some figures in Brussels recognize the potential impact, citing Energy Commissioner Dan Jo (with the article text cut off after the name).
