Germany set to spend €2 billion on clean jet fuel research

OilPrice reports that Germany plans to invest 2 billion euros to find the real cost of producing clean jet fuel.

The piece frames the push as tied to faster-than-expected progress in electric aviation, while emphasizing that batteries will not handle all aviation needs.

According to OilPrice, long-haul flying will still require liquid fuels for decades, even as batteries and aircraft designs improve.

The outlet also notes that the work is aimed at understanding economics for cleaner aviation fuels rather than assuming electric aircraft will replace jet fuel across the industry.
