Google to face up to $3.2B in damages from ad-tech monopoly suits
A New York federal judge said jury trials can proceed for roughly 5,000 publishers and allowed separate damage amounts for USA Today and Daily Mail.
USA Today Co., Daily Mail General and Trust Plc, and a class of large publishers can pursue more than $3.2 billion in damages over claims that Alphabet Inc.’s Google monopolized advertising technology markets, according to Insurance Journal.
A New York federal judge ruled late Sept. 30 that jury trials can move forward on how Google’s conduct tied to AdX harmed major publishers, after rejecting Google’s bid to contest the damage calculations.
The court said the class of about 5,000 publishers may pursue about $1.7 billion in damages, while USA Today is allowed to seek about $900 million and Daily Mail about $600 million, the outlet reported.
