Indian stocks open higher on global risk appetite boost
Nifty started at 22,532, while the Sensex opened at 72,340 and both hit early intraday highs within minutes.
India’s Nifty 50 opened higher on Monday at 22,532 and quickly moved to an intraday high of 22,564, while the BSE Sensex opened with a gap-up at 72,340 and touched a high of 72,402 within minutes, according to LiveMint Markets.
Bank Nifty also opened on the front foot, with an upside gap to 54,840 and an intraday high of 55,192 in the early session.
Early gains were reported in shares including HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, and Bajaj Finance, while names such as Avenue Supermarts, TVS Motor Company, Apollo Hospitals, Infosys, and Max Healthcare were listed among the major losers.
LiveMint Markets attributed support for broader risk sentiment to softer-than-expected U.S. employment data easing concerns about additional Federal Reserve tightening at its October meeting, though it noted Treasury yields remained elevated.
