Mauri expands flour milling capacity with new 530-tpd mill in Ballarat

The A$200 million ($139.5 million) greenfield project was completed this year with support from the Victorian Investment Fund.

Mauri, a division of George Weston Foods, has commissioned a new purpose-built flour mill in Ballarat, Australia, after moving operations from its aging North Melbourne site amid urban development pressure, World Grain reports.

The project took five years from conception to commissioning and resulted in a 530 tons per day facility located within an industrial park in the central highlands city.

World Grain says the greenfield investment exceeded A$200 million ($139.5 million) and was finished this year, with expansion supported under the Victorian Investment Fund.

Company officials said the new mill is intended to strengthen Mauri’s flour milling network, increase production capacity, improve supply chain resilience, and position the business closer to southern Australia grain-growing regions and customers.
