NZD/USD falls near one-year low as USD demand returns
The pair was down 0.7% on the day near 0.5582, hovering just above the November 2025 low at 0.5580 after six straight weeks of declines.
NZD/USD extended its slide on Monday, trading around 0.5582, down 0.7% for the day, as the New Zealand dollar remained under pressure from renewed demand for the US dollar, according to FXStreet.
The currency pair was hovering near the November 2025 low at 0.5580 after posting six consecutive weeks of losses, with spot levels also positioned close to a wider 0.5580 to 0.5470 support zone that has drawn rebounds since 2020.
FXStreet attributed the moves to risk caution, which has pushed investors toward safe-haven assets, alongside pressure from turmoil in global bond markets and ongoing geopolitical concerns.
Geopolitical developments cited by FXStreet included renewed fighting risk in Yemen, statements related to the Strait of Hormuz, and fresh Russian strikes on Ukraine, all of which have added uncertainty for markets.
