Trump appoints DNI Jay Clayton to lead new AI task force
The Super Intelligence Force has 120 days to deliver a report on AI risks and opportunities and define a federal role, Trump said.
US President Donald Trump said he has named Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton the administration’s AI czar and tasked him with coordinating federal efforts to keep the United States at the forefront of the technology, according to Insurance Journal.
Clayton will head the newly created Super Intelligence Force (SIF), which will oversee the government’s engagement with consumers, religious groups, AI companies, and other stakeholders.
The announcement also said the task force will have 120 days to produce a report assessing the risks and opportunities posed by AI and recommending what role the federal government should play.
Insurance Journal adds that AI safety has become a major issue recently, with some researchers warning that builders of the technology believe it could kill humans within a decade.
