Crypto “Godfather” sentenced again for using off-duty deputies to harass rivals
The sentence adds 78 months, and the court ordered $23,402,766 in restitution after the scheme stole more than $37 million from Meta.
A man known as the crypto “Godfather” has been sentenced to an additional 78 months for a scheme that used off-duty Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies to harass rivals and obtain confidential records, according to Decrypt.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said Adam Iza stole more than $37 million from Meta, and hid the proceeds with cryptocurrency custodians to help evade taxes.
U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson also ordered $23,402,766 in restitution. Iza pleaded guilty in January 2025 to conspiracy against rights, wire fraud, and tax evasion, and has been in custody since September 2024.
The new 78-month term will run concurrently with a prior Connecticut sentence, so it adds nothing to the time he is expected to serve, Decrypt reported.
