Kotak Mahindra Bank shares rise about 9.8% as peers fall
Between Aug. 6 and Oct. 6, the stock gained 9.8%, outperforming Bank Nifty’s nearly 5% drop and Nifty 50’s 7.8% decline.
Kotak Mahindra Bank shares have outperformed the broader Indian market over the past two months, rising about 9.8% between Aug. 6 and Oct. 6 while both Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty fell sharply, according to LiveMint Markets.
The article attributes the relative strength to improving loan growth, stronger Q2 business trends, clearer expectations for the bank’s next CEO, better asset quality, and expectations for an earnings recovery.
At the time of writing, the stock was trading around ₹430.60, about 4.9% below its 52-week high of ₹452.98. It was also up 6.1% over the past week, up 12.9% over three months, and up 19.5% over six months.
Bonanza’s Abhinav Tiwari said the outperformance reflects stronger growth, leadership clarity, and expectations of a favorable rate cycle, as Kotak’s prospects improve against its market benchmarks.
