Global equities hold steady as US tech leads resilience
Europe’s STOXX 600 closed 0.36% higher, and US and European futures signaled modest gains going into the next session.
Deutsche Bank strategists said global equities have shown broad resilience, with record-setting US tech stocks leading the move and Europe posting steady gains, according to FXStreet.
In Europe, the STOXX 600 finished 0.36% higher and still sat about 4% below its own August record high, while the FTSE 100 rose 0.34%, the DAX gained 0.09%, and the FTSE MIB increased 0.66%.
In Asia, most markets were firmer, with the Hang Seng up 0.77%, the Nikkei up 0.82%, and the S&P/ASX 200 up 0.51%, while the KOSPI fell 1.44% after opening higher. Mainland Chinese onshore markets stayed closed for Golden Week holidays, and US and European equity futures pointed to further modest gains, with US futures up about a tenth of a percent and European futures up four-tenths.
